Smooth Transitions

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites incoming students to apply for Smooth Transitions! Smooth Transitions is an early arrival program designed to contribute to a transformative first-year experience at Capital University. This valuable program will consist of educational workshops and sessions such as how to navigate the campus and the city of Columbus, strategies to ensure academic and personal success, as well as successful engagement in a diverse culture and climate. As a result, students will become better acquainted with the university community and receive an early preview of the many important University resources and services offered that have a positive impact on student retention. 

Participants are paired with a peer mentor. This is a current student who will serve as resource to their mentees and help create an inclusive, supportive, and welcoming environment to ensure students who come from diverse backgrounds gain a solid foundation to thrive during their first year and beyond.
